Our project focuses on the steroid induced eye disease, called Central Serous Chorioretinopathy (CSC). This project is a collaboration between Prof. Onno C. Meijer (LUMC), Prof. dr. Camiel J.F. Boon (LUMC/Amsterdam UMC), and Prof. dr. Reinier O. Schlingemann (Amsterdam UMC). CSC is an posterior eye disease that has been characterized with the accumulation of subretinal fluid, the thickening and the dilatation of choroidal vessel. The pathophysiology of CSC is still under investigation. Here, our main interest is to assess the effect of cortisol in the genome and functional perspectives in the endothelial cells. We are working with various in vitro models of endothelial cells (e.g., HUVECs, primary choroidal endothelial cells, and iPSC derived endothelial cell) at the Einthoven Lab.
