Nick White
Nick White has a background in Engineering and is working as a PhD student in the Vascular Access Group. In early 2021 he completed his MSc in Mechanical Engineering with a Biomechanical Design Track from the TU Delft. In 2021 he started working on his PhD focusing on the development of a Dynamic Arteriovenous Shunt in a joint collaboration between the TU Delft and LUMC following his thesis work. This device is aimed at reducing a large number of complications of traditional vascular access in patients receiving hemodialysis by allowing voluntary opening and closing the arteriovenous shunt when necessary, and thus removing the continuous high cardiac output and turbulent flow around the anastomosis site.
