In October 2018, I started my PhD project at the group of Bernard van den Berg, after obtaining my Clinical Medicine master in Wuhan University, China. The aim of my project is to study the role of endothelial glycocalyx in various diseases.
In order to achieve this goal, my projects includes disease serum from type 2 diabetic patients and COVID-19 patients and we focus on in vitro experiments, where endothelial cells are treated with the serum mentioned before. In this way, we want to better understand the change of glycocalyx during pathophysiology of diabetic condition and COVID-19 and underlying mechanism.
