Marleen Jacobs

Marleen Jacobs works as a PhD student in the group of prof. Rabelink since September 2022. She obtained her Medical Degree and bachelor Biomedical Sciences at Utrecht University. Her research focuses on machine perfusion and more specifically ex-vivo kidney preservation in the context of transplantation. Over the last decade, machine perfusion has evolved as a technique to preserve organs outside the human body. During her PhD, Marleen tries to use the kidney perfusion system as a translational platform for different applications: evaluation of organ graft quality, unraveling pathophysiological processes within the kidney and assessing (future) possibilities for tissue regeneration and repair ex-vivo.
