Willemijn de Vos
Willemijn de Vos is a medical doctor and researcher who started as a PhD candidate in the Islet group in April 2024. After finishing both a medical and a biomedical sciences master at Leiden University, she now aims to combine both clinical and laboratory skills in her project. Her personal interest and motivation to help change the type 1 diabetes field make her enthusiastic to be joining the islet group. The focus of her PhD project is on the field of clinical islet transplantation (both allogeneic and autologous) and beta cell protection in the transplantation setting at the Leiden University Medical Centre, under supervision of prof. dr. Eelco de Koning. After completing her PhD, Willemijn hopes to pursue a career in the field of islet transplantation.
