Twan de Winter
I’m a PhD candidate in the labs of Prof. Eelco de Koning (dept of Nephrology) and dr. Anna Alemany (dept of Anatomy and Embryology) at the LUMC. My projects involve the deciphering of general mechanisms during beta cell differentiation and pancreatic development. Among others, I’m doing this by applying clonal genetic lineage tracing approaches during in vitro differentiation of pluripotent stem cells into beta cells. Furthermore, I’m computationally investigating the role of genetic variations within the 3’ untranslated region of mRNA molecules on type 2 diabetes.
