Saskia du Pré

After completing a Bachelor’s degree in Biology and a Master’s degree in Molecular Biosciences at Leiden University, I moved to the United Kingdom in 2013 to pursue a PhD in the field of medical mycology at the University of Manchester. For my PhD position, which was part of the Marie Curie ITN FungiBrain, I collaborated with the antifungal R&D company F2G. I studied the cellular effects of olorofim, a novel antifungal drug developed by F2G, on the human fungal pathogen Aspergillus fumigatus. After obtaining my PhD degree in 2018, I continued working for F2G as a research scientist. In 2019 I successfully applied for a postdoctoral fellowship from the Marie Curie LEaDingfellows postdoc program to study the tropical fungal infection mycetoma at Erasmus MC in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Most recently, in October 2022, I’ve started a new position as project manager of the Islet lab at LUMC, where I will be supporting the ongoing research.
