Sarina Pichardo

Dr. Sarina Pichardo is an oral and maxillofacial surgeon with special interest in bone diseases, orthognathic surgery, traumatology and implantology. She received her MD in 2009 (Leiden University) and her DMD in 2013 (Radboud University Nijmegen). She registered as an oral & maxillofacial surgeon in 2016. She has just finished her PhD thesis in 2020 on Medication related osteonecrosis of the jaws (MRONJ): Diagnosis and Treatment. Since January 2016 she works as a staff member at the department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Leiden University Medical Center. Besides coordinating 3D surgical planning she also participates in the diagnosis and treatment of rare (facial) bone diseases at the Center for Bone Quality and involved in research projects regarding the (surgical) treatment of fibrous dysplasia, osteoporosis, several forms of osteomyelitis, SCCH and giant cell lesions. She participates in the Dutch association of oral and maxillofacial surgery (NVMKA) and she takes part in the committee reviewing the new national guidelines of osteoporosis.
