Michiel Wieërs
Michiel Wieërs is a physician-researcher and PhD student at Erasmus MC and LUMC. His research focuses on potassium metabolism in chronic kidney disease (CKD). He is the coordinating researcher of the Dutch multi-center potassium study in which the effect of potassium supplementation on kidney function in patients with CKD is investigated. In addition, he performs clinical studies in patients with tubulopathies like Gitelman syndrome and looks to do fundamental research on acid-base homeostasis in CKD patients.
