Michiel Nijhoff
Michiel Nijhoff is a medical doctor working as a medical specialist and researcher in the field of diabetology and transplantation. He obtained his medical degree in 2009 with honours at the Leiden University and completed his training as an internist in 2017. From 2014 onward he started on his fellowship in endocrinology (completed in 2017), together with a PhD, focusing on clinical and basal aspects of beta cell transplantation. In particular, his work focuses on improving outcomes of and optimizing treatment regimens surrounding islet transplantation, as well as measuring patient centered outcomes after beta cell transplantation. Other areas of interest include (maintenance of) endogenous beta cell reserve, rare types of diabetes, and endocrine hypertension.
