Esmay Hammink

After completing my master degree in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Twente, I joined the Islet group as a PhD student in November 2022. During my studies I obtained interest in microfluidics and its application to study biology and human physiology. During both my internship and master thesis I focused on different applications of microfluidics. My PhD focusses on the development and utilization of microfluidic platforms to study the functionality of pancreatic islets. With the aim to better understand islet physiology and assess islet functionality before transplantation.
