Ultrastructural imaging and analysis of kidney, kidney organoids, and vasculature

Cristina studied Physics and Mathematics at “Al.I.Cuza” University, in Romania, where she obtained her MSc in Physics in 2007. She joined the LUMC in 2009, as research analyst in the section Electron Microscopy within the Department of Cell and Chemical Biology headed by Prof. Bram Koster. Here she became an expert in electron microscopy, especially related to specimen preparation methods. Since 2011 Cristina intensively collaborates with the Nephrology Department, performing sample processing for Transmission Electron Microscopy, Scanning Electron Microscopy and volume Electron Microscopy (Serial Block Face SEM). She also performs all the imaging and data analysis, and acts as a liaison between the Nephrology Department and the section Electron Microscopy.
