Aline van Rijn

Aline van Rijn is a PhD student who explores the role of torque teno viruses (TTV) as novel marker of immune suppression in kidney transplant recipients. In a collaborative project of the Departments of Medical Microbiology and Internal Medicine, she studies the predictive value of the TTV load for infectious complications and allograft rejection. In addition she explores other risk factors for developing BK polyomavirus infection. Besides epidemiological studies, she will be involved in a multicenter clinical trial in which TTV load is used to optimize dosing of immune suppression.
